The Art of Elizabeth Jane Woodhouse Lewis (1813-1874)
Join us on Friday 22nd May at 2pm at Aymestrey Church for an engaging talk by Nicola Kearton exploring the life and work of Herefordshire artist Elizabeth Jane Woodhouse Lewis (1813–1874) of Yatton Court. A passionate ‘church crawler’ and keen observer of history and architecture, Lewis produced beautifully detailed illustrations of churches, castles and historic buildings, many of which now provide valuable records of sites altered or lost before Victorian restoration. Nicola will share insights into Lewis’s independent life, artistic legacy, and contribution to architectural conservation. Refreshments will be provided, and entry is free, with donations split between the church and the Trust.
