Accessibility

This website is run by Aymestrey Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.

This accessibility statement applies to the Aymestrey Parish Council website at www.aymestrey.org.

For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
  • zoom in without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard
  • use a screen reader to access most of the website. The website has been tested using VoiceOver on macOS

We aim to make the website text as clear and simple as possible.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

Some content on this website may not be fully accessible:

  • some PDF documents and scanned documents may not be fully accessible to people using screen readers or other assistive technologies.
  • some images supplied by third parties may not have an appropriate text alternative.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Aymestrey Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 standard.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

Our testing has not identified any known non-compliances in the website’s templates, functionality or content that is within the scope of the accessibility regulations. Some documents and third-party content may nevertheless not be fully accessible, as described below.

Disproportionate burden

Not applicable.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

Some PDF documents may not be fully accessible to people using screen readers or other assistive technologies. This may include older documents and documents supplied to the Parish Council by third parties. If you need information from a PDF in an accessible format, please contact the Parish Clerk.

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services.

We aim to ensure that all new PDFs and Word documents we publish meet accessibility standards.

Some scanned documents, for example the Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) under Documents/Financial, may not be accessible to people using screen readers or other assistive technologies. Some documents supplied by external sources, such as the Standing Orders and Financial Regulations supplied by the National Association of Local Councils, may also not be accessible.

Third party notices

Some notices supplied by third parties may not have an appropriate text alternative, which may make the information inaccessible to people using screen readers.

We will encourage organisations and individuals providing notices for publication to supply them in an accessible format. Where an accessible version cannot be provided by the organisation supplying the notice, we will consider what reasonable alternative format we can provide on request.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are ensuring that anyone who publishes content on our website understands the importance of accessibility and is given guidance on how to provide accessible content.

As the underlying technology and code of the website are updated, we will continue to monitor accessibility and address any technical accessibility issues identified.
