SNT Article 5

Good Afternoon All,

With the recent news that some of the lockdown measures are to be lifted due to a drop in Covid cases coupled with the turn from the wet weather, it is certainly an uplifting start to the spring months.

A couple of vulnerable adult cases have been raised to us in recent weeks, where we have attended properties that are in a serious state of disrepair inside causing a health risk to residents within. I appreciate that realistically police are not the right agency to deal with any long term care packages, however we can make the necessary referrals to other agencies if appropriate. If you have concerns about neighbours or community members and don’t know where to turn, then please contact us and we can advise and visit where necessary

We currently have two student officers within the team (Pc Callum Ridyard and Pc Laura Hazlewood) and this weekend has seen them out and about dealing with anti-social behaviour incidents. The team have issued a section 59 notice (anti-social use of a motor propelled vehicle) and ASB notification letters to young person’s riding a quad bike across fields with no permission from the land owners. If they are caught on the quad bike, or the quad bike is used in a similar incident in the next twelve months, we will seize it.

Often anti-social behaviour can by a symptom of vulnerabilities within a family or can highlight safeguarding concerns for individuals, so it is important for us to be aware of any incidents involving young people, please keep on reporting any anti-social behaviour.

The Safer neighbourhood team are taking part in an operation for rural crime over the coming weeks, where we will be working with our rural crime team patrolling and stopping any ‘suspicious’ vehicles. I obviously can’t tell you any specifics, but I will try and keep you updated with progress reports.

Watch this space!!

Kind regards

On behalf of Leominster Safer Neighbourhood Team.
